SERVICES PROVIDED
Manual Therapy includes mobilizations and manipulations to joints, the nervous system and soft tissue to correct for postural/gait abnormalities, cupping techniques for pain, swelling, promote tissue healing, and mobility of tissues and improve joint function. Biofeedback training and neuromuscular retraining to improve movement patterns and improve strength, balance, coordination, and stability.
When central control (head/neck/core) is not working properly or is weak or inhibited due to pain/swelling, our body compensates which leads to injuries.
Whether preparing for a surgery (Prehab) or post surgery or injury, it is so important and crucial to optimize mobility, flexibility, strength, coordination, balance so that the recovery process is easier and successful. Manual therapy and use of kinesiotape techniques can significantly reduce swelling, inflammation, pain and improve mobility, strength and function.
Pregnancy and delivery can cause many changes in the body and can affect not only the pelvic/lumbar spine but in the upper body and all extremities due to increased stress in the joints and metabolic demands from the baby. I work with patients to optimize their trunk/core/pelvic control, mobility, strength and function.
Being in the water is one of the best options for overall wellness as it challenges your balance, cardiovascular endurance, joint mobility, flexibility, strength while reducing pain and swelling. It allows patients to perform movement and work on strengthening while not putting too much stress on the joints. It also helps to relax the nervous system.
Educating patients and screening for any mild impairments or dysfunction (poor posture in teenagers) and limited flexibility anywhere in the body can lead to injuries (tendon and muscle tears). Having proper posture, ergonomics, and body mechanics can prevent and reduce the risk of injuries.
Proper training that includes core strength, motor control, stability, dynamic balance, proper nutrition and mental wellness helps support the athletes success on/off the field and reduce their chance for injury.
Proper guidance with proper rest and gradual return to activites is crucial to healing the brain and body. Promoting healing while gently stimulating the nervous system to regain function. Manual interventions to address the visual, ocular, vestibular, trigeminal and motor control are all important in returning to basic activities and returning to optimal health.
Reducing stress/anxiety along with manual techniques with cupping, myofascial release, joint mobilizations and biofeedback/neuro retraining and integration of neck and jaw movements to optimize function and relieve pain. Postural retraining and body mechanics education.
